" Grant yourself poetic licence, stay where the 19th Cent. English 'Romantic' poet Percy Bysshe Shelley honeymooned in the Summer of 1812. Our bedrooms are all en-suite with superb sea and valley views with all of the facilities, television, telephone, tea and coffee, etc..., that you would naturally come to expect. Welcome to Shelleys."
"Sophisticated newcomer with bags of style, in beautiful location overlooking Lynmouth Bay." 'Hotels of the Year' - Shelley's has been named as one of the 'Hotels of the Year' in The Which? Guide To Good Hotels 2004. 2 stars ETC (English Tourism Council) Silver Award.
Established for well over 200 years, the Hotel takes it's name from the 19th Century English "Romantic" poet 'Percy Bysshe Shelley', who honeymooned at the cottage, then known locally as 'Mrs Hooper's Lodgings', during the summer of 1812 with his child bride, Harriet Westbrook. Our eleven bedrooms, 10 king-size doubles and 1 twin-bedded, are all en-suite with superb sea and valley views with all of the facilities, television, telephone, tea and coffee, etc..., that you would naturally come to expect.
The Hotel has reopened
after major refurbishment, being tastefully and sympathetically restored to a very high standard throughout,
and under the personal supervision of the resident proprietors,
Jane Becker and Richard Briden, has developed its own unique character,
elegance and style that only comes from attention to detail.

Here at the confluence of the East and West Lyn
Rivers sits the picturesque harbour village of Lynmouth. White-washed cottages and shops backed
by the dramatic hills and valleys of Exmoor meet the rugged coastline forming the highest sea cliffs in England. Literary figures such as Wordsworth, Coleridge and Blackmore, not to mention of course Shelley were inspired by it's spectacular beauty, and
the Victorians named the area "Little Switzerland".
